Last week I quit my job at Wal-Mart, mainly because I want to focus on ending High School and getting my College tuition paid for. Plus, this summer I scored that job for Emerald Bay. Last year I went to Emerald Bay scout camp and learned how to SCUBA dive, last March they called me to Heard Pueblo for an interview and I aced it. So now I am going to be the Manager of the trading post (a little store that sells candy, snacks, and gift shop items). I am really looking forward to that, I have been ever since they gave me the job. I won't be back until August (but they have computers so I will be posting some of my adventures here. Lindsay and I have been dating for almost two years now, I am hoping that someday she and I will own our own geek shop (Gaming and Comics). I would love that so much, once I get back I either want to work for Best Buy, Atomic Comics (DREAM!), or Barnes and Noble. Each have their plus sides, but I have yet to really look into Atomic Comics.
Speaking of which, one of the reasons I started the Geek blog was so that I can share some of my useless information with people, We shall see what I can compose next time, comic books are really important to me and one of my favorite parts of life. They are the modern day American Mythology, as important to our culture as Hercules and Achilles were to the Greeks.
Whip this out on someone if you want to show them how big of a geek you are.
A: First of all, being the brilliant Geek Fu master I am, I will not only answer this question but own it. Of course, we are talking currently, the first Green Lantern was Alan Scott, who created his ring and lantern to harness a Green Fire. His ring cannot control Wood. In the Seventies, Green Lantern was revamped with a Silver Age feel (more science stories, the streamlining of the costume and lack of a cape) with Hal Jordan, the most famous Green Lantern who received his ring from a dying alien named Abin Sur because he could "Overcome great fear." Later, John Stewart, an unemployed architect, recieved his own ring from Jordan to fill in for the other. This was a breakthrough fro black characters because Stewart did not have "Black" in his name (Like Black Panther, Black Goliath, Etc.) Around the same time Guy Gardner was the second choice for the Abin Sur, he became a back up Green Lantern for Jordan. In the eighties, Jordan became controlled by Parallax, an evil entity that helped him destroy the Green Lantern Corps (an intergallactic space police armed with Power Rings). After a few years, Kyle Rainer recieved the only surviving Power Ring and has since helped recreate the Lantern Corps. The Current Green Lanterns are: Alan Scott (working with the Justice Society of America), Hal Jordan (Back from the dead and working with the Justice League of America), John Stewart (You may have seen him in Justice League Unlimited voiced by Phil Lamarr from Mad TV), Guy Gardner (Who is now a member of the Green Lantern Honor Guard and a teacher of new Lanterns), and Kyle Rayner (Serving with the Justice League until recently, he now works with the Lantern Corps teaching new recruits).
